DIY Wooden Doll Necklaces
Hi guys! Welcome to day three of my 12 Days of Handmade Holiday Gifts. Today I am going to show you how to make these fun wooden doll necklaces. These little wearable dolls would be a great gift for the little gals in your life. They can be used a little toy dolls, or you can string them on a chain and wear them. These necklaces are really easy to make, and they are so inexpensive. They whip up pretty quickly too!
Here’s What You Need:
*Wooden Peg Doll
*Wooden Doll Head
*Paint
*Medium Gage Wire
*Screw Eye
*Chain
*Dremmel with Cutting Wheel
*Small Drill Bits
*Glue
*Trim Scraps
*Round nose pliers
Instructions:
The first thing you need to do is prepare your pieces. On the peg doll, cutoff the head with your dremmel cutter. Drill a hole with a 1/16 drill bit in the top of the head for your screw eye. Next, measure the thickness of your wire. With a drill bit the same size as the wire, drill into the bottom of the peg doll for your legs. Now you are ready to paint your pieces. Paint your head and paint the peg doll to have a top of your design choice on. You will make a skirt with your trim. Let the paint dry thoroughly. Next, glue your head to the peg doll base. Then run a bead of glue around the base of the peg doll body and glue down your trim scraps to make your skirt. Now, cut a couple of strips of wire about 2.5-3″ long. With your round nose pliers, bend and loop one end of each wire to create the loop for the foot. Then, put a little glue on the straight end of the wire and insert it into the hole in the bottom of the peg doll body. Do the same thing with the other leg. Screw the screw eye into the top of your doll head. To finish of your necklace, string the doll on a chain and you are done.
Aren’t they adorable! We don’t have little gals around anymore in our family, but I am sure I will be sporting them from time to time when I want to wear something extra funky. The greatest thing about these dolls is that they are totally customizable! You can change up the look and style by the way you paint them, or even the trims you use. I am not the best with painting, so if I can make these look cute, then anyone can. They are so simple, and they are really quite fun to create! I hope that some of you will give this one a try, you’ll have a blast! I’ll be back tomorrow with another fun gift idea. Until then…
Happy Crafting!
