DIY Vintage Christmas Card Dimensional Holiday Wrapping
Hi guys! I have been a busy little bee wrapping gifts around here. I have tried a few vintage wrapping ideas from my holiday mags and I am super excited to share one of my new favorite ways to add cheer to my Christmas wrapping. This diy comes from a vintage 1955 issue of Better Homes and Garden’s Christmas Ideas Magazine. In the original they use ready made die cut trims on their packages, They are fabulous! Since I didn’t have any die cuts, I used the next best thing, vintage Christmas cards!
Here’s What You Need:
*Paper Wrapped Gifts
*Christmas Cards
*Scissors
*Xacto Knife
*Self Healing Matt or protected surface
*Foam board
*Hot Glue
Here’s The Original:
Start by wrapping your gifts in fun gift wrap. Then decide which cards you would like to use. Cut out the subjects in your cards with your craft scissors. Cut little strips of foam core about 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide. Cut pieces of your foam board strips to fit the back side of your cut out. Glue single or double strips to the backside of your paper cut out. Then glue the foam board side to the package. I added names with glued on yarn. Spell out your letters with glue and press yarn into the glue to form your letters.
I just LOVE these trimmings! They are so darned cute and I think they really add a whole lot of charm and cheer to my holiday wrapping! I love the dimensionality of them too! I used vintage cards, but you could just as easily use cards you already have on hand waiting to be recycled. I hope you guys will give this diy a try for your holiday wrap this year! You’ll love it! I’ll be back tomorrow with another fun holiday wrap idea. Until then…
Happy Crafting!
