DIY SMASH Creative Organizers
If you haven’t ever heard of SMASH books, get ready to fall in love! These books are fabulous! There are several different themes, and each themed book has a different colored fabric spine, embossed craft hard cover, and fantastic digital collage papers inside. Made by K&Company, these books are great for scrapbooking, and journaling. I made scrapbooks for everyone last Christmas with our family photos, and they were a big hit! But I do believe my favorite use for these awesome books is as creative organizers! I use the regular SMASH books as a daily organizer for my small business and blog, and I use the fantastic large SMASH Pocket books to organize and hold all of my favorite pages and projects from magazines. Check out my pics below on how I use SMASH to organize my life…
I love to fill spaces in my SMASH with DIY inspirations and items I’d love to make. I also love all the little things you can add to your book, like these little mini envelopes.
There are so many SMASH pads you can use for all your lists from blanks, to top 10’s, to family, and of course quotes. I use the blanks and top tens for my playlist ideas and of course for to do lists.
I also use them to doodle out ideas for cards or little art ideas.
Some of my favorite inspirational sayings…
I like to use the blank grid pages for notes. This one was used for my notes from a video on getting the attention of blog and magazine editors from Etsy’s online labs.
I am smitten with the new large Pocket SMASH books! They are large enough to be able to glue down magazine pages that are too large for the regular SMASH books.
I also love that the large SMASH has a plastic sleeve page that is perfect for holding business cards!
I have to say, my absolute favorite thing about the large SMASH pocket books is that there are these fantastic full-sized pockets and envelopes. I am a magazine and catalog addict, and I use them to organize my favorite magazine pages from DIY ideas, to party planning, home decor, and even recipes. They hold magazine pages perfectly, and the best part is that I never have to flip through dozens of magazines to find that one thing I am looking for. It’s all in one place now, which believe me, is a real time saver.
Don’t you think they are just great! To buy your own SMASH book, and get smashing, visit your local A.C. Moore or Michaels, or you can buy them online at K&Company’s website Here.
I’ve heard a lot of great things about those SMASH books and yours looks way nicer – haha. Nice job!

Thank you so much Kate! I’m glad you like it 🙂
Hi there! I am going to be traveling to Europe for 2 weeks and thought about using a SMASH book to keep track of all of the things we do, and keep tickets and such. But I want to make a real scrapbook out of them (with embellishments and texture and such), so my question is whether, after you stick things down, can you unstick them? Without ruining the item itself? Also, which one would you recommend?
Hi Amanda! Thank you for your comment:) Sometimes the glue comes off over time, but if there is something you want to be able to remove later on, i’d suggest using their pockets, or some kind of removable double stick tape. And definately buy the bands that hold the book closed for extra security if you are travelling with it. As far as design goes, I love them all! However there is a SMASH travel (around the world) book. I believe it is the one with the yellow spine. They are really fun to use! I’m really bad about scrapbooking. I have boxes of things from trips and parties over the years that are just sitting in my closet. I hope you have a fantastic time in Europe!
Thank you for sharing about your smash book! I just bought the red one at Michaels today and I am going to put paper, fabric bits, small beads and charms, pictures, buttons, etc. that I like in it to help remember my favorite craft items/ideas. Thanks again!
Oh, and are you supposed to decorate the front of your smash book with stickers, paper, buttons, etc? Thank you (again :)!
I LOVE my smash books! I decorate the fronts of some of them with rub on transfers or decals. I think it would be fun to add a photo and one of those little scrapbooking frames to the front too 🙂 Sorry for the late reply. IT’s been crazy round here and I am just starting to get caught up.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! 🙂 I have been filling up my smash book with lots of ideas lately!
Oh yay! They are so much fun!
