Glu6 100%Recycled Glue Review
Hi guys! Looking for some great eco-friendly glue to use for your holiday crafting? Well then, let me introduce you to Nine Lives Products 100% recycled glue, Glu6. This fabulous glue is made from recycled styrofoam. Yes, I said styrofoam! A little while ago I had the opportunity to receive a couple of samples of Glu6, and play around with them. Here’s a little review on how they fared…
Here is the description of each glue from Nine Lives Products Website:
Glu6 Paste: Glu6 Craft Paste is the only sustainable paste available for adults and kids. This paste saves the environment! Glu6 Craft Paste is formulated for scrapbooking, school projects, and arts/crafts projects. It is adjustable, non-toxic, dries flat, and dries clear.
Glu6 Original: Glu6 is the only sustainable glue in stores today, glue that actually saves the environment! Glu6 is perfect for home repair, DIY, household, arts/crafts, and school projects. Bonds non-porous surfaces. Plus, as it is made with renewable, all-natural ingredients, Glu6 is the only sweet-smelling adhesive around!
The first glue I used was the original. Here is the Glu6 original on my household fix. My poor Deco Betty Boop had taken a tumble off of the bookshelf and had been sitting around waiting for me to remember to buy some super glue. So I decided to try the Glu6 on her and it worked beautifully! There was no discoloration when it dried and her head is still on and looking lovely. This glue is good for minor household repairs like fixing broken ceramics and such. If you need something for that super duty home repair like glueing a stone that fell off the side of the house foundation, I would suggest something a lot stronger like liquid nails.
The second glue that I used was the Glu6 Craft Paste. This is the kind of glue that I think most of us would be looking to use. I used mine in some scrapbooking situations. The first thing I tried the paste on was a note card. I had a fabric patch I wanted to glue on it. I spread the glue evenly on the fabric and then adhered it to the note card. The first couple of days my fabric looked a little splotchy, and I was a little disappointed, but then after a few days, that went away and the fabric was back to normal. I think it had not completely cured, and also I believe I probably put too much glue on the fabric.
The next thing I tried the paste on was a couple of instaprint photos and milkcaps I wanted to glue to one of my Smash book pages. I applied the paste and left the book open for a day while I let the glue dry. There are pros and cons to this glue when scrapbooking. The glue that you get in the Smash book pen is weak. My photos are coming out of the one I made a few months ago using the glue stick. The Glu6 paste is sticking strong and holds supremely. You do have to be careful with the paste. It seems to need only a very thin layer of paste to stick. If you glop it on, like I did, you get dark splotches on the backside of your papers. My photos were thick cardstock, but I have a feeling if they were just regular paper that the glue would have shown through the front too. So, when using the paste, apply a very thin layer, especially if you are using thin papers.
Overall I really like both of these glues! What I like best about them is that they are eco-friendly and non toxic. They also smell pretty darned good. These glues are not at a bad price either and for a limited time, all my lovely readers can get 25% off of their order from Nine Lives Glu6 products by using coupon code “FALL2013” at checkout on their site Here.
