Style Files- January 2014

Most days, I look like a slob. Since I mostly work from home, I tend to live in my sweatpants. My personal style tends to be casual. I don’t own many frilly items. If you look in my closet right now, you’d find flannel shirts, jeans, several pairs of boots and flats, and a ton of sweaters. I like to be comfortable, what can I say. I have struggled with my weight all of my life, and my weight fluctuates a lot partly due to a thyroid disorder. Sometimes I pay more attention to my appearance, and sometimes I just want to hide behind the biggest sweater I can find. One thing I have noticed is that the more my weight increased, the more mundane and neutral my wardrobe has become. I am trying to step back into my more colorful quirky style that had always defined the skinnier me and bring a little joy back into my style. I don’t know if I’ll ever be 100% comfortable in my own skin, but if I can love what I wear again it will be a big improvement. Here is a little collection of ensembles that I would love to have in my closet:

Take My Picture!

Candy Apple

Love Story

Date Night

Stop and Smell the Roses

Babe's New Boots

I’ll be back again soon with more style inspiration….

  1. Ashlee, you are adorable! A thyroid disorder is also my problem and I seem to like exactly the same stuff as you do! And your doggies and catties are soooooo cute too! A1000 kissies from Holland x.xxxx

  2. Hi Ashlee – I have a thyroid condition too so I feel your pain. I had it under control (weight-wise) for 15 years, and then I had to go on Prednisone. It’s been a struggle ever since, and only more difficult as I get older. It’s a tough fight. These boards are great bc even a new pair of earrings can feel like a new lease on life (I almost said “leash.”).

Have a great weekend and thanks for your great blog. I did buy Max a belly belt (and new jammies) but I’m not sure he’ll actually even walk while wearing it. It’s pretty funny.
