I Heart Etsy Fridays- The Art of Peter Emmerich
A few weeks ago I was browsing through Etsy, and I let out a gasp. You know, one of those gasps that women do so well, that can either be from fear or extreme excitement. My husband refers to it as sucking all the air out of the room. In this case, I was crazy excited!I had somehow serendipitously come across a portrait of Coco Channel by Peter Emmerich, and when I entered his Etsy shop, I fell in love with every single piece there! It was a yes moment. So, today I am over the moon to share with you my newest favorite Etsy shop, The Art of Peter Emmerich! Peter is an amazing artist and illustrator! He has quite a fantastic resume, including design work for the Walt Disney Company. You can read more about Peter’s artsy accolades in his bio Here. His work is whimsical, and just so happy! Every piece will make you smile. The thing I love the most about Peter’s work is his mid-century style, vintage fashion references, and the quirkiness in his characters. He really gives so much personality to his art! His subject matter is also really awesome! There are illustrated portraits ranging from amazing old hollywood legends like Marilyn Monroe and Lucille Ball, to the ever fabulous Diana Ross and Ella Fitzgerald, to even modern favorites Adele and Harry Potter. I also love Peter’s story book characters! One of my favorites is an illustration of a circus bear that looks like it was inspired by one of my favorite vintage children’s books, which features learning your abc’s at the circus! They are all just wonderful! Here are a few of my absolute favorites:
Aren’t they all so adorable! I can’t decide on which one to get, I love them all! I know I will be getting Marcie one of Coco Channel for Christmas. She took a trip to Paris last year and the ladies at the Channel flagship shop liked her so much, they took her back and gave her a little tour of Coco’s studio. I was quite jealous. I know she’d get a kick out of the print of Madame Coco! To see more of Peter’s amazing work, visit his Etsy shop, The Art of Peter Emmerich, Here. You can also follow his awesome blog Here. I’ll be back next week with another lovely artist. Until then…
Happy Shopping!
I totally agree, Ashee! Love his work and also that of Brittney Lee at britsketch on Etsy. She just worked on Frozen. Cool!
Yes Cindy, I love her work! I think she was one of the first shops I favorited on Etsy years ago! I love the one of the kitty with the balloons 🙂 I will have to check out her shop again! I love Frozen!
