Strawberry Orange Mango Rum Punch and Strawberry Simple Syrup Recipe
Hi everybody! Summertime is in full swing here in North Carolina! It is humid and hot. It’s a good time of year to sit by the pool with an ice-cold drink and relax! Sherri’s Berries (Berries.com) had contacted me a few weeks ago to ask if I had any berry inspired cocktails I love to make. I know I usually don’t share a lot of recipes on the blog, but I thought it would be fun to share one of my favorite summer drinks with you all! Today I am going to share with you how to make a Strawberry Orange Mango Rum Punch, as well as an easy peasy strawberry simple syrup. They are delicious!
Strawberry Orange Mango Rum Punch
*2 Ounces of Rum
*Orange Juice
*Mango Nectar
*3/4 oz Strawberry Simple Syrup (Recipe Below)
*Strawberry and Orange Slices for Garnish
*Ice
Fill a large glass half way or so with ice. Pour in your rum. Add orange juice to about two-thirds of the way to the top. Next add your strawberry syrup. Then fill to the top with your mango nectar. Stir it all up, and garnish with a slice of orange and strawberry. You can also add everything to a cocktail shaker, shake it up, and then pour it into a glass. It comes out a little more frothy, but still good. And you can easily turn this yummy drink into a mocktail just by omitting the rum. I don’t drink, so this mocktail version makes a great any time summer cooler for me. My hubby loves it as a weekend sweet splurge!
And now for the syrup…
Strawberry Simple Syrup
*Strawberries (a small container will do)
*Water
*Sugar
*Saucepan
*Large Bowl
*Mesh Strainer
*Mason Jar
Wash and hull the strawberries. Place the strawberries in a saucepan with equal parts water and sugar. I used two cups of water and two cups of sugar for mine since I made it to share with family. Bring to a boil, stirring, until sugar is dissolved. Cook for a couple of minutes until the liquid is very pink. Remove from heat. Place the mesh strainer over your bowl and pour the strawberry mixture into the strainer. Let it all strain out through the strainer. Discard the cooked strawberries. Scoop any foam off the top of the liquid. Let it cool, and then pour it into a mason jar. It will keep in the fridge for up to a month. You can use it for cocktails, flavored water, home-made soda, etc. What we use it for the most is to add flavor to our iced tea! It is wonderful in iced tea!
Everyone in my family loves this drink and the simple syrup that goes with it! It is a great treat in the late spring when we get fresh sweet strawberries! I hope you all will give this fruity summer drink a try at your next summer bash, or even for a fun summer dinner treat! It’s so simple and the flavors are lovely together! If you do give it a try, let me know how you like it. Hope you all are enjoying the summer! I’ll be back next week with a new summer tote project. Until then….
Have a wonderful day!
