Hey everybody! I am back with another vintage recipe to share with you all! Last week I went to the Liberty Antiques Festival with my gals and we had a blast! While I was there I picked a shabby old Better Homes and Gardens cook book with a copyright from 1953. I have been pouring through the recipes in this book for days, and let me tell you it was well loved! I thought it would be fun to take a departure from a magazine recipe this month and share one from my “new” cook book. This recipe is called Chocolate Crispies and it is from a section all about cookies. I felt like making cookies, and there were certainly a ton to choose from. I settled on the Crispies since they were so different from anything I have ever made before, and they sounded pretty darn good too!

Here’s The Original Recipe:

I followed the recipe exactly but I made only a half batch. I used Ghirardelli chocolate which I think is always super yummy! One thing that surprised me was just how rich these drop cookies were. I cannot even eat a whole cookie by myself without feeling a bit sick. They were so easy to put together. I think I made my batch in less than twenty minutes. I probably could have melted the chocolate in the microwave and had made them even faster. They cool pretty quickly in the fridge too. I was expecting it to take a while but when I checked on them after half an hour they were set up nicely.

These cookies are delicious! I think they would be great subbed with dried cranberries and almonds too, or maybe using a different cereal. You could probably make a healthy version using the super dark chocolate and a high fiber sugar free cereal. I crumbled one up and had a little sprinkle on my chia pudding this morning for breakfast and it was fantastic! I would definitely recommend giving these easy little cookies a try sometime!
