Easy Five Minute Ribbon Ballet Flats
Hi guys! One of my favorite shoe styles is ballet flats! I love that they are both comfortable and classic. I was recently looking through a Vogue magazine and saw that designers are bringing back the lace up ballet flats this year. So, I thought I would upcycle a plain pair of black flats I had with some fun ribbon!
Here’s What You Need:
*Ballet Flats
*3/4″ Wide Ribbon
*Fabric Glue
*Felt
*Hot Glue and Glue Gun
*Scissors
Instructions:
Decide how much ribbon you need to go from the middle of each side of your foot and wrap around your ankle twice and then tie. Cut the ribbon that length for each side of your foot for both feet. Measure your shoe and mark where it hits the middle of your foot. Now, take the end of one of your ribbon pieces and glue it to the middle inside of your shoe with fabric glue. Do the same thing with the other side. Then repeat for the other shoe.
Now cut a couple of pieces of black felt for each shoe that will cover the width of your ribbon. Glue the black felt over the ribbon ends on the inside of your shoes with hot glue, encasing your glued ribbon ends. To finish off you can tie a length of ribbon into a little bow for each shoe and then glue to the top of your shoes.
I love how these little flats turned out! Unfortunately my legs are ultra pasty right now, so I had to have my mom model them for me. They were a little big on her. This is a really easy way to update a plain pair of flats. You can easily change the look of them just by the flats and the ribbon you use. The best part about this project is that it takes about five minutes once you’ve measured everything out, maybe fifteen minutes top. I hope you all will give it a try sometime! I’ll be back next week with more diy fun. Until then…
Happy Crafting!
